Hi I'm Jean,

I don't have a problem with HOSP but I may one day so I wish to learn all I can in case those imports show-up.

Ryan, I read your "Welcome" and am shocked that TX would require you to get a "pesticide" licenses. Shocked

I will look forward to getting to know everyone here! Very Happy

I am as shocked as you!

Welcome, glad to finally have you around. Just remember, anyone that manages birds around their homes will eventually meet the HOSP. Their populations wont diminish anytime soon that's for sure.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'm sure we can get you the answers you require.

Ryan, Thanks for the warm welcome! Smile

I will let you know if I encounter any HOSP. I do host Eastern Bluebirds and I WANT to keep them!

This looks like a great place to learn!!!

Hi Jean!

It's about time you showed up! Been waiting for you. I think you'll love this place. My stress over not being able to discuss my passion for one bird and not the other has been relieved.

I've got five more bluebird nestboxes made and ready to place. And, I found a small stock of barn lumber that I forgot that I'd put back for an emergency like this. This next barn box will be the official last one. Unless, of course, Pat and I can figure out how to get some of her barn lumber down here to me, from Wis.

Anyway, glad you're here. These guys are alot of fun!

Hi Monty!

Thanks for your Welcome! I am glad Ryan created this great site where you can speak your mind about HOSP without any negative feedback!!!

Your Bluebird house that you built me is the preferred winterized house of my Brown-headed Nuthatches. I hope you get the wood to build more and I hope I get a nesting pair of Blues this spring!

I would love to post a picture of your wonderful Bluebird House. I'm just not sure how to do it here. Question

Hi Painfully Pink,

I had my first pair of Blues out of the blue. Exclamation I had put up a bird house that I "thought" was a Bluebird house....the opening was only 1 1/4 inch. Blues need an opening of 1 1/2. Anyway I had also put up a cheap decorative house and they made that one home and successfully raised one brood. The next year they came back and had 4 eggs when we had a storm and the dang box fell apart. Lesson learned but not quite. I purchased a Bluebird House from Lowes and mounted it on a fence post. A rat snake raided the first nest. I had more to learn.

Now I have 3 boxes mounted with baffles to keep the snakes out.

Bottom line....put up a Bluebird House in the right location, properly mounted for your area, and they will come!

BTW....I love your Avatar! It is really cute. Very Happy

Wishing you Bluebirds!
